Gossip vs. Reality

These past few days I've been watching a few gossip hounds chase down a person who has become very mainstream and whose life is no longer this person's own. It has become quite sad. Part of this in fact is due the fans who have created an uncomfortable space. A large part is due to people who have nothing better to do than gossip and ruin this person's career. I am saddened by the abilities of these people and the following they have as a result.
I am a journalist and in publicity. I've been praised and commended on my accurate reporting and my ability to tell the truth. I've won awards for my writing because I listened and didn't fabricate. I've never made stuff up and I've always reported accurately, asking questions until I was sure I had the answers. I've had celebrities and politicians, musicians and athletes ask for me to work with them because I've always, always been honest. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY I'VE NEVER USED SOMEONE FOR THE SAKE OF A STORY. I know the difference between gossip and reality and hopefully others will follow suit.
It makes me crazy to see the opportunity people have to make stuff up or take the truth and fabricate lies to weave into their twisted stories.
For the sake of everyone involved, give peace a chance. Money doesn't matter if you're making someone miserable. Kudos to the person involved who is on the other end. You're doing fine and will continue to do so. I have faith in you.
